Keep your conservatory warm in winter

A conservatory can be a beautiful addition to any home, offering a bright and airy space to relax and enjoy the views of your garden, even during the colder months. However, sometimes conservatories can become cold and uncomfortable during the winter season, which can ruin the comfort and ambience that they were designed for.
Fortunately, there are several ways you can keep your conservatory warm in winter, so that you can continue to enjoy it throughout the year.
Firstly, choosing the right flooring can make a significant difference in keeping your conservatory warm. It is recommended to choose flooring that has good insulation properties, like underfloor heating, as it can help lock in heat and provide a warm base for your feet. Options like resin or carpeted flooring are also good choices.
Another way to conserve heat in your conservatory is by using thick curtains or blinds. This is a cost-effective and straightforward measure to trap the heat inside your conservatory. Make sure you close your blinds or curtains in the evenings to provide an extra layer of insulation and prevent heat from escaping.
Insulating your conservatory windows can also have a substantial impact on temperature regulation. Using heat-reflecting window films or double-glazing can help keep your conservatory warmer in winter by reducing heat loss. These options also have the added benefit of reducing glare and UV rays, which can damage furniture and fabrics.
If you have the budget, investing in good quality roof insulation can make a considerable difference in temperature control. Specialist roof insulation helps to insulate your conservatory’s roof and prevent up to 90% of heat loss through your conservatory roof. In turn, you can enjoy a conservatory that’s up to ten degrees warmer in winter.
Planting evergreen plants outside your conservatory can form a natural barrier against cold wind and, in turn, help retain heat in your conservatory. Notably, trees that lose their leaves in winter, such as deciduous trees, may provide natural shade in summer, but during winter, they can have the opposite effect by allowing precious sunlight and warmth to enter your conservatory.
Lastly, using space heaters or portable heaters can be a quick and easy solution for keeping your conservatory warm. Space heaters come in electric, gas, and oil versions and offer excellent heating while staying cost-effective to use. However, remember to use them with caution, especially if you have children or animals in the household.
In conclusion, keeping your conservatory warm in winter is essential to ensure it remains a comfortable and usable space throughout the year. By insulating the floors, windows, and roof and using curtains and space heaters, you can create a pleasant, warm environment for relaxing or entertaining without breaking the bank.
A wish come true, Elite Windows and Conservatories have done a superb job building our conservatory from start to finish. Very professional and very friendly service from all involved. In particular the area sales manager Jack Harris who was there giving us advice and following up at every stage of the installation. Very happy with the cost as well. So glad we chose them to fulfil our dream.
Elite Windows did my Conservatory 13 years ago, which is my favourite room in the house. So when my back door broke, there was no hesitation where to go, and I wasn't wrong. Absolutely amazing job from start to finish, even going the extra mile and fixing my Conservatory guttering without even mentioning. Next stop a porch .... Thank you so much, look forward to seeing you soon 😊
I had enquired with a number of window replacement companies and asked neighbours for recommendations , right from the get go Elite Windows kept becoming the front runner. I sent an enquiry into them online and the very next day I received a phone call from one of the office women who arranged for Jack to review my request. Jack promptly called and arranged a visit that same day and gave us a quote. I was impressed with the service so far and the quote as we had 3 x 12ft bay window and 2 x smaller windows to fit was very reasonable and competitive. we signed up and waited 5 weeks to work commenced. The guys who came to fit all the windows were fabulous. they came early , cracked on with the job , tided up as they went along, kept us informed of progress and next steps. on the final day we had to leave them to it and they locked up after themselves and we came home to a completed job , all clean and organised.. Brilliant. A final phone call from the office later that day to see that we were happy with everything and then payment.could not be more pleased.
