The “Modern Heritage” Look: Period Charm for Manchester Terraces
From the leafy streets of Didsbury to the rugged beauty of Saddleworth, Greater Manchester is defined by its heritage architecture. The classic red-brick Victorian and Edwardian terraces are a source of pride for the region, but maintaining them can be a challenge. Traditional timber windows look beautiful, but they are prone to rotting, require constant painting, and are often incredibly draughty.
For years, homeowners were forced to choose between authentic looks and modern comfort. Standard uPVC windows, with their chunky frames and shiny plastic finishes, often look out of place on a period property, stripping away its character. Our “Modern Heritage” range was created specifically to solve this problem. These windows feature “Flush Fit” sashes, meaning the window sits level with the frame, mimicking the clean lines of 19th-century joinery.
The detail is what sets our heritage range apart. We use realistic wood-grain foils that capture the texture of painted or natural timber, available in classic colours like Agate Grey, Heritage Green, and Cream. We even offer mechanical jointing—rather than the standard 45-degree diagonal weld found on most uPVC windows, our heritage frames feature a vertical joint that looks exactly like a traditional wooden mortise and tenon joint.
Inside, you get all the benefits of 2026 technology. These windows are A-rated for energy efficiency, feature high-security multi-point locks, and require nothing more than a wipe with a damp cloth to keep them looking new. You no longer have to spend your weekends sanding and priming window frames to keep the damp out of your Victorian terrace.
If you live in a conservation area or simply want to preserve the historical integrity of your home, our Modern Heritage collection provides the perfect “facelift” that respects the past while protecting your future.
A wish come true, Elite Windows and Conservatories have done a superb job building our conservatory from start to finish. Very professional and very friendly service from all involved. In particular the area sales manager Jack Harris who was there giving us advice and following up at every stage of the installation. Very happy with the cost as well. So glad we chose them to fulfil our dream.
Elite Windows did my Conservatory 13 years ago, which is my favourite room in the house. So when my back door broke, there was no hesitation where to go, and I wasn't wrong. Absolutely amazing job from start to finish, even going the extra mile and fixing my Conservatory guttering without even mentioning. Next stop a porch .... Thank you so much, look forward to seeing you soon 😊
I had enquired with a number of window replacement companies and asked neighbours for recommendations , right from the get go Elite Windows kept becoming the front runner. I sent an enquiry into them online and the very next day I received a phone call from one of the office women who arranged for Jack to review my request. Jack promptly called and arranged a visit that same day and gave us a quote. I was impressed with the service so far and the quote as we had 3 x 12ft bay window and 2 x smaller windows to fit was very reasonable and competitive. we signed up and waited 5 weeks to work commenced. The guys who came to fit all the windows were fabulous. they came early , cracked on with the job , tided up as they went along, kept us informed of progress and next steps. on the final day we had to leave them to it and they locked up after themselves and we came home to a completed job , all clean and organised.. Brilliant. A final phone call from the office later that day to see that we were happy with everything and then payment.could not be more pleased.
