Conservatories

How Can I Insulate My Conservatory?

Conservatories are a common addition to most British homes. They provide extra space. One of the most common issues that they face is that of heat retention. This can increase your energy bills, plus cause problems like dampness. But this does not have to be the case, if you carry out proper insulation. If you are asking how can I insulate my conservatory? Here is how to go about it.

Change your roof

One of the first things you will need to do is to replace the roof. This is because 25%of the heat in a home is lost through the roof. This is an expensive option, but if you can afford it, go for it. It will make a great difference. Hire a professional to get the job done.

Install curtains

Installing blinds will significantly help to minimize draughts. Curtains help to prevent warm air from escaping from the room. Ensure that the curtains that you put in place have thermal ability. Closing the curtains also helps to prevent cold air from getting into the room. Installing curtains is one of the cheapest ways of insulating your space.

Use thermal paint

This can be easily found in online shops. It is also referred to as emulsion paint. The paint helps to buffer the internal heat in the house from the cold roof and surfaces outside the house. This is a fast and cost effective solution.

Use solar control film

A solar control film is a thin shit of material that is applied on the glass walls of the room. The film absorbs heat, while reducing glare and UV rays. Just ensure that you get high quality films that will not easily peel off.

Underfloor heating

Underfloor heating provides constant heat from the floor of the room. Install it if you have tiles and laminate as your flooring.

Use a rug

Rugs are also a great way to insulate your feet from the floor. The thicker the rug the better. Choose a good quality material with a high thread count, as this will offer better insulation. Even though wool is expensive, it offers the best insulation.

Conclusion

One of the reasons that conservatories lose heat is because glass is not a good insulator, making it hard to retain heat in the room. By insulating the room, it will be possible for you to spend a lot of time in the space, instead of just the few summer months, when it is warm.

A wish come true, Elite Windows and Conservatories have done a superb job building our conservatory from start to finish. Very professional and very friendly service from all involved. In particular the area sales manager Jack Harris who was there giving us advice and following up at every stage of the installation. Very happy with the cost as well. So glad we chose them to fulfil our dream.

Elite Windows did my Conservatory 13 years ago, which is my favourite room in the house. So when my back door broke, there was no hesitation where to go, and I wasn't wrong. Absolutely amazing job from start to finish, even going the extra mile and fixing my Conservatory guttering without even mentioning. Next stop a porch .... Thank you so much, look forward to seeing you soon 😊

I had enquired with a number of window replacement companies and asked neighbours for recommendations , right from the get go Elite Windows kept becoming the front runner. I sent an enquiry into them online and the very next day I received a phone call from one of the office women who arranged for Jack to review my request. Jack promptly called and arranged a visit that same day and gave us a quote. I was impressed with the service so far and the quote as we had 3 x 12ft bay window and 2 x smaller windows to fit was very reasonable and competitive. we signed up and waited 5 weeks to work commenced. The guys who came to fit all the windows were fabulous. they came early , cracked on with the job , tided up as they went along, kept us informed of progress and next steps. on the final day we had to leave them to it and they locked up after themselves and we came home to a completed job , all clean and organised.. Brilliant. A final phone call from the office later that day to see that we were happy with everything and then payment.could not be more pleased.
